Most valet trash problems are resident problems: trash out too early, loose bags, boxes that won't fit. Clear rules, given at move-in and posted on the resident portal, prevent most of them.
Template rules
- Place bagged trash inside your container only during the set-out window on service nights.
- Bags must be tied. No loose trash, liquids or food outside a bag.
- Break down boxes and take them to the recycling container — boxes do not fit in the valet container.
- No bulk items, furniture, electronics or hazardous materials at the door. Contact the office for a bulk pickup.
- Bring your empty container inside by the next morning.
- Missed pickup? Report it the same night.
How violations work
Porters photograph the container and door (never residents), note the unit, and include it in the morning report. The community — not the vendor — applies its own warnings or fees under the lease.
Fire safety
Containers should never block a breezeway or stairwell exit path. Confirm the set-out window and container type with your local fire marshal if you have any doubt.
